Ewing was admitted to a Washington, D.C. hospital Friday evening and he is currently in isolation.
The former New York Knicks star has released a statement saying the virus is ‘serious’, but insists ‘he will be fine’.
He currently serves as head coach of Georgetown University’s basketball team.

Hall of Fame basketball player, Patrick Ewing has been hospitalized after testing positive for Coronavirus.
“I’ve tested positive for COVID-19,” Ewing stated in a press release on Friday evening. “This virus is serious and shouldn’t be taken lightly.
I need to encourage everybody to remain safe and take care of yourselves and your family members.” Ewing is the head coach of Georgetown University, the college he represented early on in his playing days before transitioning into the NBA.
Georgetown University stated in a press release: “Ewing is under care and isolated at a local hospital.
He’s the only member of the Georgetown men’s basketball program to have tested positive for the virus.”
Ewing played most of his career as the starting center of the NBA’s New York Knicks and likewise played briefly with the Seattle SuperSonics and Orlando Magic.
He spent 17 seasons within the NBA and all but two of those with the New York Knicks. Who he helped to the Eastern Conference title in 1994 and 1999.
Ewing was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2008.

In other news, a nurse, an administrative employee and three other persons. Tested positive for coronavirus at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abeokuta, Ogun State.
That is coming barely a week after two individuals. A pregnant lady, who died at the facility before her positive test result arrived. One other younger man, tested positive at the facility.
