Daily Trust in a new report highlights some senior police officers who may be considered for the top job.
Deputy Inspectors-General of Police (DIGs)
The constitutional term for an IGP is four years with one renewable term. However, Daily Trust notes that none of those on the rank of DIG has up to four years before retirement. This means that if appointed, they will not be able to complete the full tenure as IGP. The DIGs with the most time left

The three senior police officers will all leave the service in 2023.
Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs)
Findings stated that three persons among the current AIGs have up to four years left in service. While two of them will retire in 2025, the other has nine more years to retire.
