Two workers of the Federal Polytechnic, Kaura-Namoda in Zamfara State, were shot dead in their residents by gunmen.
The affected workers were Usman Nazifi, 37; and Bashiru Muhammad, 39, living at the low-cost housing estate in Kaura-Namoda.
A resident of the area, Alhaji Ibrahim Kaura, said the gunmen stormed Nazifi’s house and asked him to open his room, but he refused and began to shout, calling for help.
According to him, the gunmen withdrew and hid in an uncompleted building within the area.
He said, “When the deceased, Nafizi, realised that the gunmen might have gone away, he opened his door and called his neighbour Mohammad to tell him about the incident, not knowing that the assailants were hiding in an uncompleted building.
“As they were discussing the issue, the gunmen came out of their hiding place and opened fire on them, killing them on the spot.”
Confirming the incident, the Rector of the institution, Alhaji Yahaya Bande, described the attack as unfortunate, barbaric and condemnable.
The deceased have been buried according to Islamic rites.
