Unidentified gunmen assaulted the convoy of the governor of Borno state, Babagana Zulum, at Baga, a city in the northern state, on Wednesday, July 29.
Mentioning an anonymous source, The Cable states that the Borno governor was on his way to some internally displaced persons (IDP) camps in the northern part of the state when the event occurred.
“The governor went to Kukawa, and on his way to Baga his convoy was attacked. Nobody was injured,” the source quoted to have said.
The newsprint, though, comments that it is uncertain if Boko Haram insurgents are behind the attack.
From my findings, this is the second known assault on the convoy of the Borno state governor within a year.
In one more associated report, marksmen murdered four policemen accompanying a bullion van in Ebonyi state.
The unknown gunmen made an effort to capture the van at Ezzamgbo junction, in Ohaukwu local government area.
