IGP deploys DIG, AIG, 8 CPs to coordinate security for Edo election

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu approved the deployment of 10 high ranked police officers to Edo for the forthcoming September 19 governorship election in the state.

DCP Frank Mba, the Police Force Public Relations Officer made the revelation in a statement he issued.

It was collected that this is in line with Nigeria Police Force (NPF) efforts to guarantee satisfactory security for the governorship election in the south-south state

According to The Nation, Adamu deployed Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police in charge of Research and Planning, Adeleye Olusola Oyabade to supervise security for the poll.

The DIG will be assisted by Karma Hosea Hassan, the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) in charge of Federal Operations and eight police commissioners.

Mba went on to add that both the DIG and AIG will superintend over the entire security and ensure effective monitoring of the election and due enforcement of all electoral laws.

He said in addition to the ten high ranked policemen to be posted to Edo other senior police officers involved in election monitoring and evaluation.

Mba further noted that security aides attached to VIPs and political appointees have been barred from accompanying their principals on the day of the election.
