President Muhammadu Buhari upheld the security chiefs for offering their best in the fight against insecurity in the country.
However, the president, provided mandates for the fixing of the total security architecture and directed the security chiefs to derive a new strategy against the threat of bandits and insurgents.
Speaking to the security chiefs for the duration of a meeting on Tuesday, August 4, joined by the national security adviser, Babagana Monguno, President Buhari uttered displeasure over the deteriorating state of the security of the country.
Monguno, informed the pressmen about the result of the meeting, said Buhari stressed on the need for the service chiefs to offer more.
“The President said to the Service Chiefs, ‘you are doing your best as far as I am concerned but there is still a lot more to be done,” Monguno said.
“He has also directed that we must rejig our strategies both in terms of operations and intelligence. We must rejig our strategy to prevent further catastrophe; that we must bear in mind that we owe a duty.”
There have been demands for the sack of the security chiefs succeeding intensified and continual assaults that left numerous people dead in Borno, Southern Kaduna, Zamfara and other states.
