The Napoli and Super Eagles striker was first diagnosed with the disease upon his return to his club from holiday earlier in the month.
In a tweet by the Italian club yesterday, the club confirmed the 22-year-old striker returned another positive COVID-19 result and would undergo further tests in a few days.
“The COVID-19 test taken by Victor #Osimhen this morning has come back positive. He’ll be tested again over the coming days,” the club said.
The fleet-footed striker rose to fame while featuring for Nigeria at the 2015 Fifa U17 World Cup staged in Chile.
There, he propelled Emmanuel Amuneke’s side to a record fifth world title, while his dazzling performances earned him the Silver Ball award behind compatriot Kelechi Nwakali. He also walked home with the Golden Boot prize after finding the net on ten occasions.
