The Ondo state police command arrested 4 grave diggers working at a public cemetery.
They were arrested while attempting to severe the head of a tipper driver just buried.
The suspects remanded in police custody.
The Ondo state police command arrested 4 grave diggers working at a public cemetery owned by Akure South Local Government after 5 severed human heads discovered in their possession.
The suspects whose names were given as Kunle Olomofe 45; Adewale Abiodun 40; Akinola Sunday 69 and Oluwadare Idowu, 67, arrested while attempting to severe the head of a tipper driver just buried at the cemetery.
Relations of the deceased tipper driver had come to make preparations on how to permanently secure the gravesite after they noticed that his remain exhumed.
“It was when we caught them in the act which led to their beating that we discovered that they were in possession of other human heads.
We instantly contacted men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) who came to pick them up” the member of the family stated Confirming the incident.
The spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, ASP Tee-Leo Ikoro stated an investigation into the matter has commenced.
The suspects remanded in police custody.
