Vice President of South Sudan, Riek Machar and his spouse Angelina Teny who serves as defence minister have tested positive for Coronavirus.
This confirmed in a statement released on Monday May 18 by his office.
It further revealed that “a number of his office employees and bodyguards” additionally tested positive for COVID-19.
Machar additionally confirmed this on a state television, stated he would be on self-isolation for 14 days at his residence. Alongside the remainder of his employees who tested positive for the disease.
South Sudan has to date recorded 347 cases of coronavirus and 6 deaths.
