Workers in public polytechnics within the country on Wednesday, January 6, declared that they have begun a nationwide warning strike.
The workers under the union of Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnics (SSANIP), alleged the strike embarked on to protest the non-implementation of their demands.
The national president of SSANIP, Philip Ogunsipe, said the industrial action would go from bad to worse if the federal government fails to put into effect the union’s demands.
He told The Sun that the government declined to support their demands for over 10 years.
Ogunsipe revealed that the attitude of the government provoked the workers to commence 14 days warning strike.
He, however, cautioned that at the end of the two weeks, the union may embark on a complete national strike.
Some polytechnics across the country including Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Federal Polytechnic, Offa, and Federal Polytechnic, Nekede verified to the newspaper that their members were on strike.
