Operatives of the Joint Task Force deployed to Abaji, along Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja-Kogi State boundary intercepted a truck containing 70 bags of substance suspected to be marijuana.
This was made known in a press release by the FCT Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Anjuguri Manzah, on Wednesday.
The Chairman of Joint Task Force and Commissioner of Police of the FCT, CP Bala Ciroma commended the operatives for their vigilance.
“On 9th June, 2020 at about 1300hrs, vigilant security operatives of the FCT Joint Task Force enforcing the Covid-19 restriction of inter-state movement intercepted a truck, with registration number NNR 274 XA transporting dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp from Auchi in Edo State to Zaria, Kaduna State. The exhibits were concealed in a bag loaded with fertilizer.
“The suspects arrested with the recovered exhibits are: Mohammed Sani 47 years (suspected owner of the illicit drugs), Umar Muhammad 30 years (Driver), Suleiman Ibrahim 20 years, Yusuf Adamu 21 years and Usman Ayuba 22 years, all male.

“The suspects and exhibits have been handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for discreet investigation and prosecution,” the statement read.
