After a rigid battle with top National Assembly (NASS) members, Festus Keyamo, the minister of state for labour, retains the sharing formula for the 774,000 jobs offered by the federal government.
Keyamo publicized that the original plan to give 15% of the job slots to governors, NASS members, ministers and interest groups still stands, The Nation reports.
Refuting claims that he gave instructions for a 40% rise to politicians, Keyamo said: “I did not give any instruction on a 40 per cent rise for them to implement. We are sticking to the original formula of 15 per cent concession to political office holders.”
Regarding his role on the project, the minister said that he has not acknowledged differing instruction from the presidency.
He said: “I have not received superior instructions from my bosses. The presidency did not give contrary instructions on my role.”
