There is no such thing as a plan by President Muhammadu Buhari to absorb some N-power volunteers into the Federal Civil Service on June 12 the Federal Authorities has clarified on Saturday.
The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, in a press release by its Deputy Director, Information, Rhoda Iliya, described the report as “fake news”.
It said information relating to the Scheme or the National Social Investment Programme would be issued via the appropriate channels.
The statement reads: “The attention of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, has been drawn to the fake news trending on social media that President Muhammadu Buhari will on June 12 broadcast to the nation the absorption of N-Power Batch A Volunteers into the Federal Civil Service.
“The Ministry is hereby calling on the public to disregard the message and consider it as fake news.
“Any information on N-Power or the National Social Investment Programme will be issued through the appropriate Federal Government channels.”
The N-Power Programme inaugurated by the FG in 2016 under the National Social Investment Programme. It was aimed toward lifting citizens out of poverty via capacity building, investment, and direct support.
The ministry stated the effort also contributed to the federal government’s vision of lifting 100 million people out of poverty by creating alternatives to boost the productiveness of the Nigerian youth.
The programme had enrolled 500,000 beneficiaries so far, 200,000 from Batch A which began in September 2016 and 300,000 from Batch B, which kicked off in August 2018.

The beneficiaries were speculated to spend 24 months on the programme however Batch A beneficiaries have spent over 40 months.
The ministry stated the Batch A beneficiaries had been denying other Nigerians a chance to entry the programme and gain skills for entrepreneurship and employment.
